Frequently asked questions
We are proud to say we exclusively use Canclini fabrics sourced directly from Italy. We do not compromise on the quality of our shirts
We offer more than 300 fabrics. Spend some time working with our Bespoke Shirt Wizard. If you can’t find the fabric you want, let us know. We will locate it almost certainly in our warehouse or elsewhere.
All the fabrics on our site are 100% cotton, and each fabric is marked with a thread count and a GSM weight (grams per square meter). Our Unique Selling Proposition is that, unlike many (if not all online tailors), we exclusively use award-winning Italian Canclini fabrics.
Typically we add new fabrics to our site every season. We carry shirts and fabrics until they sell-out, which can be anywhere from two weeks to four months. We notify our customers of new shirts and fabrics via an email newsletter.
While some customers prefer to oversee the style details of the entire shirt, we understand sometimes our customers prefer to buy an already styled high quality shirt. Our Ready-to-Wear collection is carefully crafted by our tailors bearing in mind our bestselling fabrics and offer an even better value.
Sorry you’re having issues with our site. First, we’d recommend clearing your cache and doing a refresh of the site. If that doesn’t work, please send us an email to help@santamariashirtmakers.com and we’ll be happy to help.
Yes. We need to capture your sizing details against the order. This way you will be able to easily re-order, update your saved sizes, or process a return if needed.
Our tailors begin stitching within 12 hours of placing your order. To make a change or to cancel an order before your shirt enters the stitching phase; please email us at help@santamariashirtmakers.com with your order amendment or cancellation request.
Shirts start from £65 and go up to £95. Shirt costs vary based on the fabric. Generally the higher thread counts fabric and the finer the feel of the cloth, the more expensive the shirt. We do not charge extra for customizations. Extra costs are incurred if contrast is required, and for monogramming. Such extras are labelled in our Shirt Making Wizard and order review.
All shirts are shipped from our tailors in Spain. The postage to the UK is a flat rate of £9.90.
For accessory orders: Delivery to the UK is a flat rate of £3.95 for first class recorded delivery. International shipping is a flat rate of £20.
There are no minimums; we recommend starting with one shirt to see how you like the fit.

Yes. The measurements for which we ask are standard for the industry. They should match what we ask for on our Sizing Wizard. If you have any problems matching your tailor’s measurements with what we ask, please send us an email to help@santamariashirtmakers.com and we'll be happy to help.
Our fabrics are world class and they will last many years compared to a off-the-rack shirts. Here are some general tips that will extend the life of your shirt:
1. Turn the shirt inside out before placing the shirt in the washing machine.
2. All shirts can be machine washed. Please do so on cold to luke-warm setting, and preferably on gentle or delicate cycle. We recommend only having other dress shirts, or a light load, when washing your shirts. An excessively full load with other coarser materials can cause early shirt pilling.
3. Hang-dry your shirts. Button the top button whilst drying will help retain the shape. If you invest in thicker wooden hangers, it will help the shirt retain its shape better.
4. Hand press with a warm iron when it is slightly damp.
5. Every two months take a tooth brush loaded with detergent to gently scrub the collar to remove ring.
